BUILD: Systems Building in Action – What Does It Look Like? 

 
9:00am to 5:00pm
This full-day preconference will target both community and state level leaders in examining and discussing strategies for aligning and integrating all components of an early childhood system to meet the needs of children and families. The format for the plenary and breakout sessions will be informed by a case study that will incorporate scenarios around children, the community and the family and the different aspects of the system that impact them. For children, the scenarios will focus on both an infant or toddler and a prek-aged child.

Campaign for Grade Level Reading orientation at 9:30am. Session begins at 10:00am.
Explore the successes and challenges of communities across the nation to make measurable progress on third grade literacy.  Robert Albright, Associate Director at FSG will address burning questions about building and sustaining collaboratives. Ellen Galinsky, President and Co-Founder of Families and Work Institute, will discuss how Mind in the Making and VROOM can support literacy goals.  Successful state and community campaign leaders will examine and share their lessons learned. And if you’re on a quest for data, Laila Bell, Director of Research and Data for NC Child, will share tips on finding and using data effectively
