Welcome to registration for the 2016 National Smart Start Conference. This year's conference already promises nationally recognized featured speakers, informative pre-conference sessions, and engaging workshops throughout.

The closing luncheon keynote is film and TV star Ernie Hudson. His body of work has diverse range but it is the wisdom Hudson gained before his Hollywood days during his formative years which allows him to relate to struggling individuals and communities. The conference will be May 3 through May 5 with a pre-conference on May 2.

Pre-conference participants will choose one session to attend during the registration process. The available sessions include:

  • BUILD: Systems Building in Action – What Does it Look Like?
  • NC Early Childhood Foundation: Campaign for Grade Level Reading
  • NC Smart Start Fiscal Training: training for NC Smart Start local partnership staff to learn about financial and contracting topics

The 2016 conference also offers five featured sessions. Conference participants will choose from one of the three sessions in each time slot to attend during the registration process. These sessions include:
May 4 – 10:30 to Noon

  • Power of Play: Stacking the Building Blocks of Learning
  • Engaging Parents: From Customer to Advocate, Parent Voice Matters
  • Crawling to Walking: Ranking States on Birth: 3rd Grade Policies that Support Strong Reader

May 4 – 1:30 to 3:00

  • From Grassroots to Grasstops: Early Childhood as a Political Platform
  • Care and Education for the Early Care and Education Workforce

North Carolina Smart Start local partnership Executive Directors and board members may also register for the Annual Conference Leadership Symposium on Thursday, May 5 from 8:00 to 11:30am, and the Leadership Symposium Awards Reception on Wednesday evening.

Cancellation Policy:
Cancellation requests must be received by April 11, 2016 to receive a refund. Cancellations after that date will not be refunded. All cancellations and/or substitutions must be submitted via email to [email protected]. Please include your registration information in the email. The email must come from the original email address that you used during registration.
