State, Local, and K-12 Leadership: Unlocking Energy Affordability

The Weatherization and Intergovernmental Programs Office (WIP) at the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is hosting State, Local, and K-12 Leadership: Unlocking Energy Affordability on July 8-9, 2019 in Arlington, Virginia.  View the Agenda at-a-Glance here for a high-level overview of daily events.
 

Discussions at this event will focus on the most pervasive barriers on your path to maximizing energy affordability and achieving significant energy and cost savings in the public sector. You can expect interactive sessions that target identified barriers, peer exchanges on strategies and best practices with DOE staff and public-sector leaders from across the country, and collaborative technical assistance planning tailored to your energy priorities. Your participation in this event will help WIP to better support your energy goals. Session breakout topics include:

REGISTRATION FEE
The registration fee for the event is $75. The registration fee is required to cover the cost of lunch and an afternoon coffee service on Monday, and continental breakfast and a morning coffee service on Tuesday. We are offering a 'pay later' option for those that plan to attend, but need more time for travel to be approved. All registration fees must be paid by July 1, 2019.
 
**The $75 registration fee cannot be applied to the travel stipend for reimbursement.**

 
TRAVEL STIPENDS
A limited number of travel stipends ($7501 or $1,0002 based on location) are available upon request for representatives from K-12 school districts and energy/sustainability offices within a state or local government. You can request a travel stipend when registering for the event. 
 
If your state agency, local agency, or school district has an existing financial assistance agreement with DOE that can be used for such purposes, please consider using those funds to finance the travel costs associated with your attendance at State, Local, and K-12 Leadership: Unlocking Energy Affordability. DOE will take this information into account when deciding to whom travel stipends will be provided.  
 
1$750 for locations in Mid-Atlantic, Midwest, Northeast, and Southeast regions based on National Association of State Energy Officials (NASEO) Regions.
2$1,000 for locations in Central and West regions based on NASEO Regions.
 
ACCOMMODATIONS 
Sleeping rooms are available at the group rate of $179 plus taxes for the nights of July 7-9, 2019. Reservations must be made by June 24, 2019. Reservations are first come, first serve and cannot be guaranteed at the group rate after this date or after the room block is full. 

The room block is only for the nights of July 7th and July 8th, but we do have a few rooms available on the nights of July 5th and 6th. However, if you try to book a sleeping room on the night of July 9th, it will show our room block as full. If you will be attending this event and the Better Buildings, Better Plants Summit, you will need to make two separate sleeping room reservations. CANCELLATION POLICY
Registration fees, minus a $14 processing fee, will be refunded for cancellations made prior to June 28, 2019. No refunds will be made after June 28, 2019; however, you can substitute another attendee by making the request in writing.
 
PARKING AND AIRPORT TRANSPORTATION
The Hyatt Regency Crystal City only offers Valet parking and the cost is $45/day. The Hyatt does offer a complimentary shuttle to and from Ronald Reagan National Airport and the Crystal City Metro Station. For more information parking and the shuttle, please visit the hotels  transportation page.
 
An alternate parking option is located one block from the Hyatt at PMI 2611 Jefferson Davis Highway, Arlington, VA 22202.  PMI is $10 per day, if you park by 9am and are out by the closing time of 6pm, or up to 18 hours for $15 per day.
