The Department of Energy (DOE)
will hold a peer review of their Grid Modernization Initiative (GMI)
projects on April 18-20, 2017 at the Sheraton Pentagon City Hotel in Arlington, VA. This event will be open to the public and will provide an opportunity to learn about the current state of technology and network with energy sector stakeholders. A portfolio of over eighty grid modernization projects across thirteen programs will be reviewed. The comprehensive review will look at the projects at a program level, provide lessons learned, and share best practices. Twenty-nine foundational projects will be examined in the peer review process, where industry leaders will serve as objective reviewers. A dedicated poster session will provide the opportunity for attendees to learn about the other projects in the portfolio.
Transportation to the Hotel
: The hotel offers complimentary shuttle van service to and from the Pentagon City Metro Station and Ronald Reagan National Airport.
From Hotel to Metro: Shuttle runs weekdays from 6:15am and weekends starting at 7:15am, until 11:15pm. The shuttle leaves the hotel on the 15 and 45 of every hour. The last shuttle leaves the hotel at 11:15pm.
From Metro to Hotel: Shuttle runs weekdays from 6:30am and weekends starting 7:30am until 11:30pm. The shuttle leaves the metro station every 30 minutes on the hour and half hour. Last shuttle leaves the metro at 11:30pm.
From Airport to Hotel: The shuttle picks up from Terminal A, Door 5 and Door 9, at :15 and :45 past every hour. The first pick up is at 5:15 a.m. and last pick up is at 12:15 a.m. The trip takes approximately 10 minutes. For return trips to the airport, consult the Sheraton Front Desk.
Walking / Metro
The hotel is located approximately 1.5 miles from the Pentagon City Metro Station (30-45 minute walk). For walking directions from the Metro, see Google Maps

Reagan International Airport offers Metro service directly from the airport.
To get to the Sheraton by metro, take a yellow or blue line train to the Pentagon City Metro Station (approximately five minutes from the airport). Shuttle service is available from the Pentagon City Metro Station to the Sheraton on weekdays, beginning at 6:30 a.m. and running through 11:30 p.m. The shuttle leaves the Metro station every 30 minutes on the hour and half-hour. A return shuttle from the Sheraton to the Pentagon City Metro Station is also available, leaving at :15 and :45 past the hour throughout the day.
