SC302. A Sky Full of STAARS: An ASSET Science Short Course
Everything we know about stars and the universe is from the light we gather from them, so if we are to understand the stars, we must first understand what light can tell us about them. Join this astronomy workshop developed by two Sam Houston State University astronomers and discover some basic properties of stars by analyzing light. Participants will then take these properties and construct the HR diagram, the greatest diagram in the history of the universe! Although it may appear to be a simple diagram of stellar properties, by the end of this short course you will be amazed at the wealth of data it contains. You will never look at an HR diagram the same way again! Each participant will receive an ASSET activity guide full of exciting Five E Lesson plans aligned to the TEKS. Guaranteed to be a worthwhile and lively short course.
