SC212. Earthquakes In Your Classroom
Excite your students about Earth science using a variety of hands-on and interactive activities to discover the processes that continue to shape the geology of the Mediterranean. Their interest and understanding will build as they make their own earthquake, investigate tsunamis, test magma viscosity, work out how best to model eruptions, build their own Alps, erode mountains and coastlines and build a Nile Delta of their own. Then, challenge them to apply what they have learned to identify and understand how those same processes have also formed the geology of Texas and the United States. These activities have been brought back from a Geoscience Information For Teachers workshop. Participants will experience these hands-on and interactive activities together during the course. You will walk away with digital instructions for conducting the experiments and will learn how to apply geologic processes that have occurred in Europe to the United States.
