The Climate Change Education Principal Investigators Meeting is a working meeting of principal investigators and other key personnel of climate change education projects currently or recently funded by NASA, NOAA and NSF. The purpose of this jointly held meeting is to facilitate synergy and collaboration among project partners as well as with other external networks to expand their projects' impacts and leverage results. This will be the third such meeting and it will focus on providing grant recipients with information on current climate change science findings, how communities are responding to those findings, and how projects can be scaled up and sustained. Additionally, the scientists, educators and evaluators representing approximately 120 climate change education projects will share information about their projects' impacts and lessons learned. This invitation-only meeting will take place in Arlington, Virginia on October 7-9, 2013 and is sponsored by the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation.

PLEASE NOTE: If the government is shut down for any or all of the days during the meeting (Oct. 7-9, 2013), the meeting will still occur. You should plan to come and participate in the meeting regardless of what happens with the open status of the government. We have put into place a plan so that non-federal employees and other meeting attendees will be on site and can run the meeting in the absence of the federal employees.

We don’t anticipate major disruptions to the agenda. There may be a few federal speakers who cannot attend, but most other speakers will be unaffected. We also encourage PIs to still attend the agency-specific breakfasts and lunch (depending on which agency has funded your project(s)). Although no federal program officers (or any other federal employees) would be able to attend, we hope you will use this time to further collaborate with your fellow PIs. There will be a facilitator to lead the groups.
