The PFA Annual Symposium and Exposition will have several new features in 2013 including these events you won’t want to miss.
 
Vibram USA /Quabaug Corporation Facility Tour
Wednesday, October 30, 10 AM - 5 PM

A special facility tour scheduled for October 30th with a 11:30a.m. arrival at Quabaug Corporation, North Brookfield, MA with lunch provided. A complete explanation of the factory and tour will be provided along with a question and answer period. 

Facility Tour Learning Points:
  1. EVA- Various Types, Different Physicals: What’s the effect of lighter weight materials??
  2. Slip Resisting Materials: Different Materials, Only standard for slip resistance in the USA is set  by the SATRA organization
  3. Gumlite compounds: Gumlite is a lighter weight material. Will see this material being manufactured and what the final result is when the process is completed.
  4. Speak about the difference from EVA to Gumlite to Newflex compounds and what are the differences between them.
Registration fee for this event will include round-trip transportation, lunch at Quabaug Corporation’s factory and laboratory facility tour and CEUs.  Participants must register for this event by September 30, 2013.  PFA reserves the right to cancel this event if a minimum number of attendees is not met by this date.

Industry Show Floor Presentations and Education
A new feature in 2013 providing educational and training sessions on variety of industry topics that you won’t want to miss.

 

Nora Systems Presentation: Interim Shoe From EVA 
Attendees will see how and the steps to make a custom shoe and insole for
Diabetic foot or a foot with mild ankle instability post tib tendonitis PTT and other FAO needs.

The demonstration will show the steps of this easy to adapt process using EVA. The process will teach pedorthotists to be able to make the orthotic and shoe without any additional equipment other than an oven and press. Attendees will learn how to make a orthosis using a vulcanized blocker and a shoe from template cut outs.
