Program
The meeting’s main themes are: 1) Explore the mechanisms of action of nuclear receptors in healthy and diseased tissues; 2) Highlight emerging research and technology to understand nuclear receptor functions; 3) Review steroids and steroid receptors and corresponding drug treatments in the context of clinical diagnoses and treatment of chronic, non-communicable diseases.Conference sessions will present the latest research and foster discussion on:
- Steroid hormone regulation of glucose and energy metabolism
- Clinical aspects of steroid hormone receptors in disease and therapy
- Systems biology to deconstruct nuclear steroid receptor mechanisms and functions
- Estrogen actions in the brain and blood vessels
- Novel functions of steroid receptors in cancer
- Targeting steroid receptors: New mechanisms of action
- Nuclear steroid receptor/metabolic crosstalk
- Sexual dimorphism of steroid function
In addition to an opening keynote lecture "If We Knew Then What We Know Now, What We Would Have Done Differently to Exploit Nuclear Receptors as Drug Targets" from Donald McDonnell, PhD (Duke University), this conference will feature eight oral sessions, including one dedicated to clinical aspects of hormone receptors in medicine; one poster session; and two career development sessions.
