UMUC Arts Program Call for Entries for the
4th Biennial Maryland Regional Juried Art Exhibition
University of Maryland University College invites entries of works by all artists in Maryland, Northern Virginia, and Washington, D.C., for its 4th Biennial Maryland Regional Juried Art Exhibition (BMRE). The exhibition will run from December 1, 2019, to March 15, 2020, in the UMUC Arts Program Gallery in Adelphi, Maryland. The opening reception and awards presentation will take place on Sunday, December 1, 2019, at 3 p.m.The exhibition is open to current residents of Maryland, Northern Virginia, and Washington, D.C., 18 years or older. All mediums (painting, sculpture, drawing, printmaking, fiber, glass, ceramics, wood, metal, photographs, and mixed media) will be considered except videography. All submitted work must be original (no reproductions), completed in 2018 or 2019, and suitably prepared for installation. Artists are responsible for uploading high-resolution images, which will be used in the catalog, for each submission. The cost is $35 for up to three entries, plus $5 for one additional entry. The deadline for submissions is August 23, 2019. Artists will be notified of the jurors’ decisions on September 10, 2019.
The exhibition includes a full-color catalog featuring the works of all participants. The President’s Best-of-Show award winner will receive a $5,000 cash prize; the second-place Juror’s Choice award winner will receive $2,000; and the third-place Award of Merit winner will receive $1,000.

Terms and Conditions
- Artists may submit up to four digital images.
- All entries must be submitted electronically.
- Images must be large enough to print full page (at least 8 inches along the shortest dimension) and 300 dpi (2400 x 3000 ppi). Images that are less than 300 dpi will not be accepted.
- All jpeg/tiff entries must be labeled with the artist's last name and title of the work. Use as many characters as you can.
- Works that are altered from the original jpeg submission image will not be accepted.
- All fees must be paid at the time of submission.
- Electronic application submissions constitute an agreement between the artist and UMUC, and artist declares all information is correct.
- All work must be original (no reproductions).
- Works must have been completed in 2018 or 2019.
- The curator reserves the right to deny entry if any work is deemed not suitable for display or too difficult to install or if the image is altered after jury process.
- Works must be properly framed and ready for hanging (if applicable). UMUC will provide pedestals for three-dimensional works.
- Artists must adhere to the timeline/schedule.
- Artists are responsible for getting the works to the Arts Program at UMUC, 3501 University Boulevard East, Adelphi, Maryland 20783.
- All selected artists will be notified electronically.
- Participating artists will receive 20 copies of the catalog, to be provided at the opening reception.
- Selected works for the 4th BMRE will not be for sale. The Arts Program will put any party interested in purchasing artwork in contact with the artist.
- Works cannot be removed until the end of the exhibition.
- Any works that are not retrieved within 90 days of the close of the exhibition will become the property of the UMUC Arts Program and disposed of at the discretion of the UMUC Arts Program staff. This includes destroying the work; selling it; or accessioning it into the UMUC collection, at which point all copyrights are transferred to the UMUC Arts Program. If arrangements are made to retrieve the work after 90 days, a storage fee of $20 per day will accrue beginning on the 91st day.
