During this demonstration, students will learn to make an arrangement of extremely lifelike, botanically-correct hibiscus flowers and buds along with with Brassia (Spider) orchids and a leafy vine filler. Students will learn the multiple techniques of the Soft Method for sugar flower making created in the 1990s by Lin Cook of Sugarcity UK in England using Lin’s award-winning Platinum Paste™. This includes what is called “twiddling”, a simple, wonderfully time-saving method for simultaneously veining and wiring petals and leaves in one easy step. Students will also learn various techniques for arranging flowers and fillers for maximum visual effects on cakes, coloring techniques, and tips for selecting different orchid color and arrangement schemes. |
