  Course Description

Healing childhood wounds and attachment ruptures is key to enjoying more fulfilling relationships and healthy intimacy as an adult. This workshop will cover  the fundamental concepts of attachment styles -   Secure,  Ambivalent/ Preoccupied, Avoidant/Dismissive, and Disorganized -  and  how  each style impacts adult relationships.  Dr. Poole will help attendees learn to identify the hallmarks of each style  and  learn what is needed to enhance secure attachment through a blend of lecture, experiential exercises, guided imagery meditations, and multimedia presentation.

Learning Objectives - at the end of this workshops, participants will be able to: 
  1. Describe how the dynamics of early childhood “family of origin” attachment patterns may play out in adult relationships.
  2. Define the distinctions between Secure, Avoidant, Ambivalent, and Disorganized Attachment models.
  3. Utilize corrective experiences to aid in resolving fixed attachment patterns.
  4. Describe the concept of “Earned Attachment”  
  5. Apply at least two practical applications of Somatic Experiencing® principles, techniques, and corrective experiences to alleviate stuck Attachment patterns.
Diane Poole Heller, Ph.D., is an established expert in the field of Adult Attachment Theory and Models, trauma resolution, and integrative healing techniques. She taught and lectured for over two decades in the USA and in many countries around the world. She developed her own signature series on Adult Attachment called DARe (Dynamic Attachment Re-patterning experience), more recently known also as SATe (Somatic Attachment Training experience). Dr. Heller began her work with Peter Levine, founder of SETI (Somatic Experiencing® Trauma Institute) in 1989. As Senior Faculty for SETI, she also teaches Somatic Experiencing®, based on Peter Levine’s groundbreaking work, in USA and abroad. Her book “Crash Course” on auto accident trauma resolution is used worldwide as a resource for healing general trauma. Dr. Heller has been featured at prestigious international events and is the author of numerous articles in the field. As president of DARe/SATe and of Trauma Solutions, a psychotherapy training organization, Dr. Heller supports the helping community through an array of specialized topics. She maintains a limited private practice in Louisville, Colorado
