Course Description:
In this hands-on training seminar, you’ll learn and practice relaxation, breathing, mindfulness, and other skills to handle stress responses at work, home, or wherever you are in life. The skills will help you to flex your mental muscles and do five key things:
  1. Notice painful thoughts and feelings without getting all caught up in them.
  2. Learn to recognize that on the flip side of painful thoughts & feelings are often things you care about.
  3. Let go of the habit of moving away from pain.
  4. Choose what’s important to you in life.
  5. Take action in those chosen life directions.

At the end of this learning event, participants will:

Walk away with a valuable set of skills that prepare you to handle all-hazard incidents and to live a richer, fuller, more meaningful life. Through a variety of learning methods such as experiential exercises, video, case examples, demonstrations, and PowerPoint presentation, you’ll be able to
  1. Understand the Crosshairs diagram.
  2. Use the Crosshairs diagram to draw out a painful life situation.
  3. List at least three painful thoughts or feelings and things you do to move away from them.
  4. Practice mindfulness, breathing, and relaxation exercises.
  5. Utilize a breathing exercise for when things get overwhelming.
  6. Identify three values and goals to live the life you want to live.
