Purpose/Goal: 

The purpose of this webinar is to discuss what it means for a patient to be sensitized, the causes of sensitization, and the various transplantation options for a sensitized patient. In addition, kidney paired donation programs will be discussed and how the new kidney allocation system benefits sensitized patients.  Lastly, there will be a review of when it is appropriate to consider positive crossmatch transplantation

Members of the donation and transplantation community serving diverse populations to include administrators, coordinators, physicians, nurses, surgeons, managers, quality improvement specialists, social workers, and other donation and transplantation center professionals and their colleagues.
 

Learning Objectives:

At the end of the webinar, participants should be able to

  • Explain the meaning of cPRA and the causes of sensitization for transplant candidates
  • Describe the limitations of kidney paired donation programs and the new allocation system for sensitized kidney transplant candidates
  • Identify when it is appropriate to consider positive crossmatch transplantation or transplantation in the setting of known donor specific antibody
