Purpose/Goal:

Motivational interviewing is a skill that will keep a conversation between a Family Services Coordinator or other healthcare professional and a potential donor family open and growing. This skill will help to grow the relationship with the family and create an educational dialogue during the donation conversation or during a re-approach for donation conversation.  During this webinar, we will learn the impact of, and how to utilize, motivational interviewing.

Target Audience:

Members of the donation community serving diverse populations to include: family services coordinators; hospital development; nurses; multicultural outreach experts; quality improvement specialists; social workers; educators; and others involved in donation conversations.

Learning Objectives:

At the end of the webinar, participants should be able to

  • Describe the benefits of motivational interviewing
  • Demonstrate an educational dialogue with a potential donor family through the application of motivational interviewing.
