Purpose/Goal:

With a changing demographic moving towards a more diverse population, health professionals tasked with the job of designing effective health messages have to consider many factors when creating these messages. In order to effectively reach diverse populations, we must identify key characteristics including the needs, values, cultural, and health beliefs of different groups. This webinar is designed to introduce participants to theoretically-based strategies for creating transplant education that effectively targets diverse audiences and impacts behavior change.

Target Audience:

Members of the donation and transplantation community serving transplant candidates and recipients to include coordinators, physicians, nurses, anesthesiologists, surgeons, intensive care specialists and other allied donation and transplantation center professionals and their colleagues with an interest in organ allocation, procurement and transplantation.

Learning Objectives:

At the end of the webinar, participants should be able to:
  • Identify theory-based methods for designing effective transplant education.
  • Apply strategies for tailoring messages to address the needs of racially, ethnically, and educationally diverse populations.
