Purpose/Goal:
Unplanned mentions of donation to a family of a critically ill patient can result in unintended consequences. Many times families develop distrust of the medical team and ultimately decline donation. During this webinar, we will explore and discuss tools and techniques for redirecting an unplanned donation conversation, thereby allowing families to make an informed donation decision.
Members of the donation community serving diverse populations to include administrators, coordinators, physicians, nurses, surgeons, managers, quality improvement specialists, social workers, and other donation professionals and their colleagues.
Learning Objectives:
At the end of the webinar, participants should be able to
- Describe tools and techniques to redirect donation conversations when an unplanned donation conversation occurred.
- Demonstrate how to “be present” during interactions and use active listening skills.
