Glen A Franklin, MD

Glen Franklin is a Professor of Surgery and the Program Director for Surgical Critical Care at the University of Louisville Department of Surgery. He specializes in Trauma and Critical Care and is the Medical Director of the Surgical Intensive Care and Burn Units. In his role on the Trauma Service, Glen interacts frequently with donor families. He is the Medical Director of Kentucky Organ Donor Affiliates and participates actively with donor management throughout their service area. He has served on both the NLC faculty and Donor Management Task Force in the past.  He is passionate about donor management and new techniques for improving organ utilization.
Dr. Franklin received his Bachelor’s, Master’s and Medical degrees from the University of Louisville. He completed his General Surgery training at the University of South Carolina in 1998 followed by a Trauma/Critical Care Fellowship at the University of Louisville. Following his fellowship training he joined the faculty at the University of Michigan Department of Surgery. In 2002, he returned home to Louisville to his current position at the University of Louisville School of Medicine.  After serving as KODA’s Assistant Medical Director for several years, he became the Medical Director in 2015 and continues to work with the donation and transplantation community.
