Clinical learning experiences should build upon and be integrated with content from classroom learning. Aligning clinical and classroom learning helps build contextual thinking and clinical reasoning skills that serves as a strong foundation for reflective practitioners (Benner et al., 2010). Preceptors play a critical role in aligning the clinical learning experiences with the desired learning outcomes for the course.
