Welcome to registration for the 2015 National Smart Start Conference. This year's conference already promises nationally recognized featured speakers, informative pre-conference sessions, and engaging workshops throughout.

This year's opening keynote is Dr. Clancy Blair, a professor of cognitive psychology in the Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development at New York University, and the closing luncheon keynote is Steve Pemberton, Fortune 50 Executive, Author of “A Chance in the World” & Voice of Change for Youth. The conference will be May 5 through May 7 with a pre-conference on May 4.

Pre-conference participants will choose from one of three sessions to attend during the registration process. The sessions include:
  • Building a State and Local Early Childhood System:  Lessons Learned from the Race to the Top-Early Learning Challenge States
  • Moving from Why to What: The Campaign for Grade-Level Reading
  • NC Smart Start Fiscal Training: training for NC Smart Start local partnership staff to learn about financial and contracting topics
The 2015 conference also offers a new schedule with six featured sessions. Conference participants will choose from one of the three sessions in each time slot to attend during the registration process. These sessions include:

May 5 – 1:30pm to 3pm
  • Investing in Early Childhood: Getting All the Stakeholders Involved
  • Strengthening Families: How do Communities Come Together to Better Support All Children?
  • Baby Talk: Building the Foundation for Literacy starting at Birth
May 6 – 10:30am to Noon
  • The Changing Face of Early Childhood
  • Engaging the Next Generation in supporting Early Childhood
  • Kindergarten Assessment and Supporting the Birth to 8 Continuum: Transitioning from high stakes assessment to a developmentally appropriate process

NC Smart Start local partnership Executive Directors and board members can also register for the Annual Conference Leadership Symposium on Thursday, May 7 from 8:00 to 11:30am, and the Leadership Symposium Awards Reception on Wednesday evening.

To begin your registration process, please start by selecting how many registrations you would like for each conference option below. Also, a few things to note as you register:
  • You may register multiple people at one time. Please indicate the number of people you are registering for each option.
  • If you have a promotional code, you will be asked to enter it on the payment page.
  • All presenters need to register. If you are the presenter that will attend ONLY your workshop, please select the option Presenter Session Only.
Cancellation Policy:
Cancellation requests must be received by April 13, 2015 to receive a refund. Cancellations after that date will not be refunded. All cancellations and/or substitutions must be submitted via email to [email protected]. Please include your registration information in the email. The email must come from the original email address that you used during registration.
