LeadingAge Florida Convention & Exposition

Share Your Knowledge and Experience with Aging Services Professionals!
LeadingAge Florida is seeking speaker proposals for LeadingAge Florida’s 56th Annual Convention & Exposition!
July 22-24, 2019
Hilton Bonnet Creek, Orlando, FL
Submission Deadline: Friday, December 28, 2018
Convention Strategic Focus
The 56th Annual LeadingAge Florida Convention continues to be built around LeadingAge Florida's strategic initiatives related to expanding possibilities for aging. Areas of focus for the Convention will be transforming the continuum of care to better meet consumer needs, demands and expectations; developing and retaining a skilled workforce; best practices in resident care models (including, but not limited to, culture change); quality improvement and accountability; and new technologies for older adult service delivery.
Convention Theme

What If  is the theme for our 2019 convention.

What if we were more passionate?
What if we freely considered different perspectives?
What if we empowered our teams to take more strategic risks?
What If we dreamed without limits?
What if we focused on our missions instead of our tasks?
What If we helped people find passion and purpose?
What If we made life better for older people, our staffs, our communities AND OUR STATE?
We encourage you to weave this expansive, thought-provoking theme into your Presentation submission(s).
Convention Audience
The Convention attracts senior living professionals — from CEOs to direct line staff — providing senior housing and/or senior health care services. This audience is experienced and knowledgeable, and they have come to expect the most current and highest quality of information and training. As a speaker, you will gain visibility with this important audience. No sales presentations please!
Level of Content to be Presented
When designing your presentation, be sure to cover the basics; however, you will need to go deeper into advanced subject material, as well. We ask that you indicate the level of content of your program. Extra consideration will be given to advanced level program content when presentation submissions are evaluated. A list of all program levels is below:
•     Advanced level – participants have a thorough understanding of the topic and want to do something further with it or take it to the next level by synthesizing it, etc.
•     Intermediate level – participants have a good knowledge of the topic. The program’s focus would be to enhance or clarify it.
•     Beginning level – participants have little or no prior knowledge of the area(s) covered. The focus is to increase basic knowledge of a topic.
About Our Presentations
All presentations should be constructed to educate session participants. Presenters are NOT permitted to sell or promote any specific product or service.

Proposal Categories (specific to settings)
1.   Assisted Living Facilities (ALFs)
2.   Executive Leadership
3.   Healthcare/Nursing
4.   Housing
5.   Leadership Growth and Development
6.   Technology/Security
Evaluation Process
The LeadingAge Florida Education Committee and staff will review all submissions and proposals. Those offering highly interactive shared-learning approaches and advanced level programming are especially preferred. Proposals that fail to meet all guidelines or are incomplete will not be considered for review. Submitting a proposal does not guarantee you placement in the 2019 Convention. Submissions will be evaluated to select the highest quality, most interactive, most well-balanced, shared-learning education program using the following criteria:
•     Innovation, creativity and originality of topic;
•     Clarity, depth and specificity of proposal;
•     Timeliness, currency and relevance of subject matter to the specific setting/audience;
•     Incorporates interactive learning strategies into the program design;
•     Advanced level content reflected in learning objectives and session descriptions;
•     Practical applicability of topic to aging services settings; and
•     Qualifications, expertise and experience level of presenter(s)
Note: In recent years, we have had a very high percent of quality proposals through our selection process. We encourage you to review these guidelines carefully to ensure your proposal is given consideration.
You are welcome to submit more than one proposal.
Speakers will be notified of LeadingAge Florida's decision regarding submitted proposals in February 2019. Prospective speakers should keep the Convention dates of July 22-24, 2019 available until notified of your proposal status. LeadingAge Florida will not accept phone calls regarding the status of proposals at any time during the selection process. All proposals must be submitted electronically.
Upon acceptance as a speaker, a detailed outline of your presentation will be requested by March 29, 2019. Additional details on presentation requirements due dates will be provided to accepted speakers.
Note: To help keep registration costs affordable for its members, LeadingAge Florida does not pay honoraria, travel, per diem or other costs for Convention speakers. In addition, speakers are responsible for all expenses incurred in the development and implementation of their presentation(s) including the reproduction, shipment and delivery of their own handouts if the speaker wants to provide hard copy handouts. Annual Convention speakers will receive a free convention registration for the day(s) of their presentation(s), and may attend educational sessions at no charge on that day.  Additional tickets for the Exposition Hall, Fun Night and other events will be available to purchase separately.
