American Public Human Services Association (APHSA)
is now accepting proposals for the
National Staff Development and Training Association (NSDTA) Education Conference
a Hybrid Experience
October 3-6, 2021
. Throughout the event, we will share our collective work on building capacity for training and organizational development in human services through a national network of membership.
NSDTA members represent the full range of functions in organizational development and training including broader leadership roles in human services. Workshop proposals are encouraged in the following focus areas:
Effectiveness of staff development, training, Organizational Development (OD) and Organizational Effectiveness (OE) interventions, developing and testing theories of learning, training, and transfer of learning
Curriculum Design and Instructional Technology
Design and development of
training curriculum through innovative strategies and tools including the use of
new technologies that enhance teaching and learning in classroom, blended, and
Techniques and strategies in delivering training, directing structured learning, and facilitating groups
Human Services Leadership
Leading in workforce development, training, and OD/OE (e.g., improving management structures and processes, linking training and development with other organizational units, monitoring contract activities, staff performance)
Organizational Development and Effectiveness
but not limited to assessing needs, diagnosing organizational problem areas, OD and OE strategies, and capacity building
Workforce Development and Planning
needs of an agency, planning for the attraction, selection, development and retention of the current and future workforce

Priority will be given to submissions that align with the
APHSA Strategic Playbook
in one of the following areas:
Investing in outcomes
and supporting the use of evidence-based practices;
Leveraging modern platforms
, technology and tools utilized in training and organizational development; and
space for innovation
- new strategies to address the evolving needs of the health and human services workforce.
Submission Review Criteria
The NSDTA Executive Advisory Council reviews all submitted proposals. Each proposal is evaluated for relevancy and consistency with the goals of the association and the conference theme using the following criteria:
Does the topic match one of the categories listed in the call for proposals?
Do the proposed methods allow for learner interaction and engagement?
Does the proposal content reflect important foundational content or innovative, evidence-based, best, or promising practices?
Does the presenter's bio and previous experience in conference presentations/training delivery support their expertise in the proposal topic/training delivery?

Presentation descriptions and biographies will be used in official conference materials, including the
conference website, marketing messages and the conference bot. All material is subject to editing
without notification to the presenter.
Expectations for Presenters:
All presenters are required to register for the conference. Presenters will be responsible for registering and
paying the speaker registration fee. Presenters understand APHSA is unable to offer compensation for travel expenses, registration, or honoraria to presenters.
