APHSA Call for Presentations
Experience NSDTA 360
American Public Human Services Association (APHSA)
invites you to submit a proposal for the
October 6-7, 2020
. Throughout this two-day virtual event, we will share our collective work on supporting human services staff in response to the national pandemic.
NSDTA members represent the full range of functions in organizational development and training including broader leadership roles in human services. Our members focus on the following subject areas:
Evaluation and Research
Human Services Leadership
Workshop proposals are encouraged in the following categories:
Trauma-Informed Practice and Impact on Staff
Telework Training and Practice Implications
Equity (and its relation to the national pandemic)
Tools and Resources to support the Workforce
Evaluating Workforce Efforts
Priority will be given to submissions that align with the
APHSA Strategic Playbook
in one of the following areas:
Investing in outcomes
and supporting the use of evidence-based practices;
Leveraging modern platforms
, technology and tools utilized in training and organizational development; and
space for innovation
- new strategies to address the evolving needs of the health and human services workforce.
Prior to beginning your submission we recommend you gather the following information:
Workshop Length (45, 60 or 75 minutes)
Workshop Description (for inclusion in the conference program - 100 words maximum)
Learning Objectives (up to three)
Intended Audience (New Training and Organizational Development Staff, Seasoned Training and Organizational Development Staff, Human Services Leadership)
Explanation on the rationale for this topic and approach (200 words maximum)
Description of Training Methods for your virtual session (Small Group Discussion, Lecture, Self-Reflection etc…)
Biographies of all presenters (250 words or less)
Description of your experience facilitating virtually
Tips when engaging participants virtually
Submission Review Criteria
The NSDTA Executive Advisory Council reviews all submitted proposals. Each proposal is evaluated for relevancy and consistency with the goals of the association and the conference theme using the following criteria:
Does the topic match one of the categories listed in the call for proposals?
Do the proposed methods allow for learner interaction and engagement?
Does the proposal content reflect important foundational content or innovative, evidence-based, best, or promising practices?
Does the presenter's bio and previous experience in conference presentations/training delivery support their expertise in the proposal topic/training delivery?

Presentation descriptions and biographies will be used in official conference materials, including the conference website, marketing messages and the conference app. All material is subject to editing without notification to the presenter.
Expectations for Presenters:
All presenters are required to register for the virtual event. Instructions will be provided on how to register on acceptance of your submission. All submissions will delivered in a virtual setting either live on Tuesday, October 6 or Wednesday, October 7 or via an on-demand offering that will include a pre-recorded session. All presenters will be required to participate in a rehearsal prior to the virtual event.
