8:30 AM - 10:00 AM: Breakout
With today's technology, virtual learning offers an affordable and engaging way to advance knowledge and skills and increase social learning (Britton, 2017). Experiential and social learning accounts for as much as 90% of how people learn new skills, but studies show that conventional educational practices often don't have what's needed to promote learning transfer (Roumell, 2019).
This workshop presents a step-by-step model for developing virtual learning based on real life lessons learned and examples of work with national child welfare constituents. The model supports experiential and social learning using strategies like engagement, reflection, peer-discussion, action planning, coaching, and follow up. Workshop facilitators will engage the audience using these strategies and participants will walk away with tools and action steps they can immediately apply to current projects.
