More than a Curriculum: Using Logic Modeling to Develop Training Programs with Impact
Monday, October 21st, 2019
10:45 AM - 12:15 PM: Breakout
In this experiential workshop, participants will explore a process for envisioning training as a program consisting of committed resources, multiple strategies, and intended outcomes. Using a prospective training selected by the audience, participants will engage in a mock logic model development session using the Tearless Logic Model process. This approach breaks down the logic model process into a step-by-step series of jargon-free questions, which makes the process more approachable - and ultimately more beneficial. Using logic modeling in training development moves training from being viewed as a curriculum or instructional plan to a strategic program intended to support the organization's mission and goals. The use of logic models in training and development provides a mechanism for ensuring a clear understanding of what the training program encompasses and is intended to accomplish, increasing collaboration between training managers, instructional designers, and evaluators, and communicating training's contribution and value to organizational leaders.
