Designing Effective Teaching and Significant Learning - Planning for and Integrating Course Design
Participants will apply the elements of designing quality courses, plan for integrating course design and discuss aligning course outcomes, assessments and learning activities as they analyze their own courses to deliver significant student learning.

Karen LaPlant, IT and Business Faculty-retired, Metropolitan State University
Karen LaPlant was faculty at Hennepin Technical College where she taught courses in Business and Information Technology for 30 years with the past 15 years online using D2L Brightspace. Karen has a Masters in Instructional Technology from St. Cloud State University. LaPlant was one of the college Instructional Designers and LMS Trainers. She attended five QM National Conferences and presented in 2014-2015-2016. Karen has evaluated faculty courses for 7 years as a Quality Matters peer reviewer.

Zala Fashant, Prof. Dev., Minnesota State
Zala Fashant is a retired faculty member, faculty developer for over 10,000 faculty and dean in the Minnesota State system. He delivered course design courses to faculty worldwide. He is the Chief Design Architect with Encore Professional Development. Fashant has a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of Minnesota, Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from St. Cloud State University. Zala is a Certified Quality Matters Reviewer. Zala works with Dee Fink and Associates
