Through the years, many instructional strategies have emerged. In this presentation, we will take a different perspective. We will identify common elements of all effective learning strategies and the learning theory behind why they work.
Describe the 5 basic elements needed for students to learn and remember information.
Explain how the basic elements may be incorporated into any online environment.
Evaluate course delivery options based on the basic elements of learning.

Todd Zakrajsek, Associate Professor, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
Dr. Zakrajsek is an Associate Profesor in the Department of Family Medicine at UNC. In recent years, Todd served on several boards and has collaborated with many entities: Lenovo Computer; Microsoft; Harvard; the Gates Foundation, and ACE. His academic work pertains to faculty development, effective instructional strategies, and student learning. His recent co-authored books include The New Science of Learning (Stylus; 2019); Dynamic Lecturing (Stylus; 2017) and Teaching for Learning (Routledge Publishing; 2015).
