Presumption of Death After Unexplained Absence
This presentation with examine the presumption of death which arises after an unexplained absence of a certain period of time, often seven years. We will discuss the various state requirements which will give rise to the presumption. We will also discuss best practices in investigating such a death claim based on the presumption including the use of social media. Lastly, we will discuss some of the interesting cases involving the disappearance, unexplained absence and the presumption of death, or not.
