Angela Nash, PhD, CPNP-PC, PMHS, The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, Assistant Professor
Dr. Nash's areas of expertise include pediatric primary care, mental-behavioral health; adolescent substance use disorders (SUD); addiction education of health providers, improving care for medically underserved patients and curriculum development.

She is a Fellow of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners, and she holds dual certifications as a Primary Care PNP and a Pediatric Primary Care Mental Health Specialist. She serves on the Texas Department of Health and Human Services' Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders Steering Committee.

Nash received her BSN and MSN degrees from The University of Texas Austin. In 2005, she moved to Houston for a faculty appointment at Baylor College of Medicine, where she completed an Educational Fellowship designed to prepare clinicians for scholarly work.

Her research focuses on improving systems of care for people with SUD and educational outcomes. Nash values the privilege of influencing new healthcare clinicians. Her mission is to teach her students to provide compassionate, patient-centered care, which she considers the foundation for improving health care costs and quality. Her publications and presentations focus on addressing adolescent behavioral issues in primary care and developmentally appropriate treatment models for adolescents with SUD.

After earning a post-master's in Nursing Education, she received her doctoral degree from UTHealth School of Nursing as a George Foundation Scholar in the Accelerated PhD Program, which started in fall 2010.
