Lisa Laitman, MSEd, LCADC, 17 Senior St, Director, Alcohol and Other Drug Assistance Program
Lisa Laitman MSEd, LCADC is the Director of the Alcohol and Other Drug Assistance Program (ADAP) within health and counseling services at Rutgers University.
Hired at Rutgers in 1983 to start ADAP, she is recognized for her work in implementing evidenced based assessment and intervention services for college students at risk for alcohol and other drug problems and for developing one of the first Collegiate Recovery Programs (also in 1983) and the Rutgers Recovery House (1988). The Recovery House is an on campus residence hall for students in recovery from addictions and was the first of its kind on a college campus in the US. Rutgers University supports a diverse faculty, staff and student community and Lisa has been committed to increasing diversity and supporting inclusion within the Rutgers Collegiate Recovery Community.
She is a Senior Researcher with the Rutgers Center of Alcohol Studies, a member of the CAPS Leadership Group, the Rutgers Health Services Clinical Leadership Committee, CHI (Center for Communications and Health Issues) and a past co-chair of the University Alcohol and other Drug Policy Committee. She is currently serves on the University Alcohol and Other Drug Innovative Initiatives Committee. She has several publications and awards. Since 2008, Lisa has been a co-principal investigator of a grant from the New Jersey Department of Mental health and Addiction Services and since 2018 a co-primary investigator for another grant to support recovery on the Rutgers New Brunswick Campus.. From 2002-2013, Lisa served as a founding member and board member for the Association of Recovery Schools (ARS). She is co-author of a book; Voices of Recovery from the Campus: Stories of and by College Students in Recovery from Addiction with Linda Lederman and Irene Silos Amazon. 2015.
Lisa has a forty year career in the substance abuse field in both administrative and clinical roles.
