Mr. Murphy has more than 14 years of experience in helping people with addiction and other major life issues rebuild their lives. Currently, he helps students in the Rutgers University College Recovery Program develop skills for recovery and life in college and beyond. He has demonstrated strengths in program management, individual and group counseling, personnel leadership, mentoring, and motivating people to achieve their recovery goals and objectives. His expertise in substance abuse and addiction counseling and supervision is augmented by his additional experience helping clients address and overcome self-esteem issues, depression, anxiety, and histories of sexual trauma.
Mr. Murphy has relevant topical expertise in evidence-based diagnostic assessment; evidence-based treatment planning and intervention; crisis intervention; referral to and collaboration with other service providers; case management, including facilitation of family involvement; and recovery support services for groups and individuals. He is well-versed in multidisciplinary case management and has aided in the development of community-based support services that include social networking activities, recovery support groups, sober social events, recovery house meetings, and cultivation of community resources.
Among his other professional affiliations, Mr. Murphy is a member of the Middlesex County Recovery Community Center Coalition and the Coalition for Addiction Recovery Supports.
