The Power of Strategy Maps to Transform Your Fundraising (on one sheet of paper)
Thursday, July 11th, 2019
11:15 AM - 12:30 PM: Breakout 2
This practical interactive session will introduce you to the latest Strategy Map approach- now used by many of the world's leading INGOs including UNICEF, The Red Cross and Doctors Without Borders to transform their results.
This approach, building on the Balanced Scorecard (BSC) is radically different from other 'cookie cutter' fundraising models. It offers you a profound insight into your 'fundraising business model' explaining both what you want to
achieve and how you'll achieve it. Plus, and here's the exciting bit, the model also you to do this on a single sheet of paper. So your plan is easily understandable and explainable to your board, staff and even major donors. This model
helped one organisation raise $40M from a donor in a single 15 minute conversation.
This approach to strategy is now used by many of the world's top commercial companies, and in the last 6 years =mc has introduced it to many
leading charities in the UK and internationally. The results -- significant growth in income -- speak for themselves. The session will offer you the chance to work on creating a strategy map as a part of a group case study. You'll also be able to explore how you can apply it to your own organisation at a team, dept. or whole organisation level. Specifically, we'll cover:
-- What is the strategy map approach and how does it work?
-- Case studies- where it has worked, and how
-- Making it real- putting your strategy into action -- -- Building perspectives; results, culture, resources, and capacities
-- Creating meaningful objectives and measuring results through a scorecard
This class is for you if you have never heard of the map approach and want to try something challenging and stretching to get you really thinking about strategy. And it's for you if you have used the BSC before but have struggled to get real traction with it.
