Primary Care Provider Confidence with Sexual Dysfunctions and Impact on Sexual Stigma
Description: Prevalence rates of sexual dysfunctions are high within general populations. Despite this, primary care providers rarely ask about sexual functioning, which perpetuates the stigma that sexual health should not be discussed, even within medical communities. This research examines provider confidence in their ability to treat sexual dysfunctions, and seeks to begin discussions on how improving provider confidence may address stigma about sexual health conversations.
Objective(s): At the conclusion of this workshop, participants will be able to: identify how primary care provider confidence changes when sexual health issues are addressed; recognize the relationship between provider discomfort and stigma about sexual health.
