Penis Diversity Inclusion: A Call to Action
Description: Rates of circumcision in infants in the U.S. are declining, but education about intact penises is still left out of sex ed. This workshop will review foreskin purpose, circumcision history, normalizing intact penises and strategies for incorporating concepts into education. Using mini-lecture, video, interactive creative discussion and crafting, educators will strategize how to adapt their existing lessons to include intact penises in anatomy, condom and other lessons in order to expand inclusivity, normalize and educate. Foreskin crochet pattern included.
Objective(s): At the conclusion of this workshop, participants will be able to: discuss 2 purposes of the foreskin in order to expand inclusiveness of anatomy diversity in the classroom; identify 3 lesson adaptations in order to include intact penis anatomy & function.
