Whatever You Say: Interpersonal Dependency, Sex, and Romantic Relationships
Description: An individual's level of interpersonal dependency influences the way one engages with others. Results suggest individuals high in dependency are markedly more likely to be in a romantic relationship than low dependency individuals, but that level of dependency had little to no impact on whether an individual was sexually active. Results are conceptualized in terms of the dynamics underlying the dependent personality style; findings are discussed with regard to the implications for sex counseling and therapy.
Objective(s): At the conclusion of this workshop, participants will be able to: recognize the implications of working with individuals high on interpersonal dependency.
