Sex and the Soma: Using Psychophysiology to Create New Opportunites For Pleasure, Communication and Connection
Description: This course draws on foundational principles of somatic psychology including polyvagal theory, neuropsychology, PTSD and trauma therapies, mindfulness, attachment theory, as well as movement, narrative and art therapies. Utilizing the nervous system, affect regulation and body language, we get a more complete picture of our clients' sexual processes. Understanding how the brain and body work together informs effective somatic sex therapy interventions, moving clients towards states of embodiment and empowerment, which creates an ideal foundation for holistic sexual health.
Objective(s): At the conclusion of this workshop, participants will be able to: interpret psychosomatic patterns; apply somatic sex therapy techniques to their practice.
