The Representation of Trans* Bodies in Research
Description: A vast majority of the research on trans* issues has focused on proper diagnosis of body dysmorphia and physical transition of biological genitalia. This content analysis looks at what current research is focused on - with particular attention paid to assessment of trans* individuals and their body image. In the literature review, specific themes were identified and articles were coded and sorted. The results indicated that while there has been an increase in published work, there is still a narrow focus.
- Objective(s): At the conclusion of this poster session, participants will be able to: discuss the need for more comprehensive, abstract, or in-depth research into various issues facing trans* people today.
