Jonathan’s commitment to building public school systems that ensure every child succeeds, like he did, comes from his experience of having strong educators, empathetical mentors and visionary champions that supported and challenged him to become a strong leader with a bold voice for racial equity and social justice.
Today, he serves as the Chief Engagement Officer for Portland Public Schools, leveraging the power of student, family and community voice with the generosity of business and philanthropy to reimagine public education for the 21st Century. He’s led similar initiatives in San Francisco and Los Angeles, creating strong movements in support of young people and traditional public education.
A son of undocumented immigrants, Jonathan earned his B.A. and Masters degrees from Azusa Pacific University, and was named one of 2018 Forbes’ 30 Under 30 in Education.
