Don Domes works within the Hillsboro School District in Special Projects in STE(A)M and CTE for the Office of School Performance. Don is a member of the board of directors for the Oregon Robotics Tournament and Outreach Program; additionally, he has also been a Master Teacher for the Lemelson-MIT InvenTeam Program at Massachusetts Institute of Technology for the past 10 years.
Don Domes recently retired after more than 30 years in the classroom, mostly spent in the Tech Wing at Hilhi, with forays into Integrated Science. He has extensive experience with LEGO Robotics both in the classroom and coaching FIRST LEGO League teams competing through the Oregon Robotics Tournament and Outreach Program (ORTOP), where he's also on the board. Don was instrumental in inspiring and helping to establish the Girls Get IT camp, and has been a tireless advocate for CTE and STEM education in Salem.
As the vice president of the Oregon Computer Science Teacher's Association (OCSTA), Don has worked to secure funding from the Oregon Department of Education (ODE) Digital Literacy 2.0 grant, enabling the offering of hands-on/LEGO Education-based robotics training via the OCSTA's SuperQuest program to educators throughout the state of Oregon.
