Donna Williamson is beginning her 20th year as the technology director for Mountain Brook Schools, a small city school system in a suburb outside of Birmingham, AL. Prior to working with Mountain Brook, Donna began her career in technology in 1982 working as a "computer" teacher and technology coordinator in a neighboring school district.
She is a founding member and current board member of the Alabama professional organization for technology directors (AETA) and recipient of the AETA Sally Moore Award. She helped write the first technology curriculum and technology plan for the state of Alabama and continues to serve on the state technology plan committee 30 years later. A longtime member of the Consortium for School Networking (CoSN), Donna is currently serving as the CoSN Board Secretary. Donna is a founding member and current chairperson for CoSN ALabama Leaders (CALL). Other service includes serving on The Dell Premier Council, STI Advisory Board, as a speaker for AASBO, facilitator for AETC, consultant for other Alabama school districts, and on the COSN Emerging Technologies Committee, CTO Council, and CETL Item Writing Committee. She is a long-time member of ISTE and a recipient of the internationally recognized Making It Happen Award. Donna was also a recent participant in the CIO Summit.
