8:00 AM - 8:30 AM: Breakout
Room: Broadway III (Hilton Portland Downtown)
Format: Concurrent Session - 30 Minutes
Track: International
Brief Session Description: -With examples from the world´s possibly happiest town

Finland's new National Core Curriculum from 2016 includes 21st century skills, such as digital skills, and phenomenon based education. Our strong culture of trust and freedom for teachers remains important. The schools in the City of Kauniainen have good learning results and an innovation culture that emphasizes digitalisation. The city itself was recently in the news as possibly the happiest town in the world (NY Times, Dec 24, 2018).

Our vision is that "we want our pupils and inhabitants to have the best possible future technology skills.". Children, teachers and citizens get hands-on experience of VR/AR- and 3D-technology, robots, coding and artificial intelligence in our new DigiLab. The focus is on developing education through open-mindedness to experimentation, learning together and constant development. This is best done in an atmosphere of trust.
