Personalizing Mathematics Achievement: Pioneering Innovation (Sponsored by: McGraw-Hill)
3:15 PM - 3:45 PM: Breakout
Room: Senate Suite (Hilton Portland Downtown)
Format: Sponsored Session - 30 Minutes
Brief Session Description: Many students are graduating high school unprepared for college-level work. A report by the CCCCS, estimates that 40 percent of students who had a high school grade point average equivalent to an A-, were placed into remedial or developmental courses. McGraw-Hill Education is committed to supporting K-12 and higher education through the examination of data, effective instructional practices, and regular evaluation of data to determine whether students can become better prepared for college and careers and increase students readiness for credit bearing courses. Harper College in Chicago, IL partnered with 3 districts to create a shared vision, objectives, and goals that led to a program in which the implementation of MHE's ALEKS PPL is being used as a unified, consistent assessment predicting course readiness in mathematics. The focus of our session will be to share and unpack the success of this model by looking at outcomes, scalability, and innovative approach.
