Brief Session Description: Be inspired and learn about the benefits of teaching Design Thinking and implementing maker pedagogy in the classroom. Learn about Design and Technology Curriculum using 3D design and 3D printing. Real classroom experiences - the benefits, the challenges, and the unexpected outcomes. Learn tips, resources, and hands-on experience with a focus on K-8 3D design and printing.
This session will focus on creating a beginner level project using 3D printing to connect with math/science standards at the K-8 level. Examples of how 3D printing is being used with K-5 students will be shared. Participants will engage in designing in-depth one of the projects using Thingiverse Education and Makers Empire, Tinkercad, or Morphi.
30 minute Introduction to Design Thinking and 3D Design and Printing Presentation
30 minutes of exploration, design challenges using 3D software
