Preserving Your Chapter's Legacy With Technical College of the Lowcountry and the Veterans History Project
Please select your proposal's track: Chapter Management
In this workshop, chapter members will learn about the Veterans History Project: an oral history archive used to preserve the legacy of veterans and make their experiences available to researchers and the general public. Attendees will learn how it can be used to preserve the stories of chapter members and create a comprehensive archive.
It will go over the process of conducting oral histories, including interview techniques, equipment selection and camerawork, as well as how to submit the end product to the Veterans History Project, while creating and maintaining a chapter archive. Additionally, presenters from the Technical College of the Lowcountry will speak about their experience with VHP and will show how to organize a successful event to capture oral histories of student veterans and community members.
