Breathability vs. Energy Code for Frame Walls - HSW
Do buildings have to 'breathe' to outside air? For many years this concept was taught to architects, engineers, and carpenters. However, the current IECC Energy Codes call for CI (Continuous Exterior Foam Insulation) that acts as a vapor barrier. What is going on here - both concepts cannot be right for traditional frame construction.
