Elizabeth graduated from West Virginia University- Morgantown with a BSc in Family and Consumer Science Education (FCS) K-12 degree and earned an MSc from the Ohio University-Athens with a degree in Consumer Education. Her first career was with the University of Florida-Gainesville, where she worked as an FCS agent.
While in Florida, she earned a certificate in Homebuyer Counseling from Neighborworks America. She utilized the knowledge to teach financial education and pre-purchase home buying courses to clients eligible for the State Housing Initiative Partnership (SHIP) Program as well as Habitat for Humanity clients. Elizabeth also volunteered with the Big Bend United Way to coordinate the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program in Gadsden County.
She coordinated the Gadsden Saves program as part of the national America Saves campaign. America Saves is a Consumer Federation of America program which supports building wealth and reducing debt by delivering financial education programs and coaching to youth and adults.
She moved to Virginia in 2016, where she continues to deliver financial education programs to Social Services clients as well as seniors aging in place and living on fixed income. She teaches these audiences resource management to ensure financial and food security.
