Dean Brassington
Co-Presenter Bio: Dean Brassington, an AFC Financial Educator who has worked in the field with Active Duty and Reserve military and families continuously for 30 Years, with an emphasis on training development. He earned his Master of Science in Education at Old Dominion University while serving in leadership positions as the Financial Education Services Supervisor and the Training & Education Services Supervisor at both Norfolk and Little Creek Fleet & Family Support Centers (FFSC).

Dean was recognized nationally by AFCPE® as Counselor of the Year in 1994, and his organizations later won Financial Counseling Centers of the Year in 2000 (FFSC Hampton Roads) and 2006 (CNIC). Dean worked as a Financial Educator at Naval Air Station Oceana 2007-10 and at Joint Expeditionary Base (JEB) Little Creek-Fort Story 2010-2015, with a concentration on developing senior financial leadership seminars and peer professional development. He continued his 25 year professional relationship with ZEI as a Part-time/On-Call Personal Finance Counselor (PFC) with the Military Family Life Counselor (MFLC) and served as Chair of the Financial Education Roundtable of Hampton Roads (FERHR) 2016-2017. In 2017 he worked with Dr. Bruce Brunson on an AFCPE® pilot program, the Military Transition Financial Wellness Program in partnership with a variety of military and community organizations, including TCC and USO.

Dean currently consults on personal finance training with AFCPE® volunteer projects, Fort Story Army Community Services/Virginia Beach BankOn partnerships, and as requested for the personal finance programs and presentations and peer professional development often through the FE Roundtable projects.
