Bruce Brunson PhD, Commander USN - Retired
Bio: Following his 2016 retirement from college administration, Dr. Bruce Brunson is currently working as an employment recruiter and also volunteering and consulting in the area of active duty and veterans' personal finance, higher education, and employability. For the past twenty years he has helped active duty military, veterans, and their family members achieve economic security while working with DoD, Florida Community College at Jacksonville, and Tidewater Community College. He has taught graduate and undergraduates personal finance courses at Virginia Tech and Texas Tech University.
Bruce enlisted in the U.S Navy upon high school graduation in 1969 and was later selected to attend the U.S. Naval Academy. He finished his military career as Commanding Officer and Professor of Naval Science with the Naval ROTC at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas, retiring in 1995 as a Commander after 22 years of service as a naval aviator.
Bruce completed his PhD in 1996 at Texas Tech in Consumer Economics and Environmental Design with emphasis in Certified Financial Planner (CFP) programs, Bruce holds a M.S. in Computer and Information Technology and a M.B.A. from Webster University. He graduated in 1974 from the U.S. Naval Academy with B.S. in Operations Analysis.
