Session Description: With all that needs to be accomplished in kindergarten it's hard to keep a developmental perspective about teaching and learning. In this session, teachers will take a deeper look at kindergarten CCSS and WaKIDS in order to develop a plan for the first nine weeks of kindergarten. Participants will begin to develop plans for setting up a classroom as well as planning for developmentally appropriate teaching, learning, and assessment.
Learning Objectives. Please share 3 key objectives:
1) Teachers will deepen their understanding of emergent reading and writing practices.
2) Teachers will deepen their understanding of developmentally appropriate, academically rigorous instruction.
3) Teachers will deepen their understanding of how WaKIDS can support developmentally appropriate learning and standards-based instruction.
