Session Description: This interactive session for advanced teachers will explore this recent research as it not only relates to school readiness but positively impacts executive functioning and self-regulation skills. The outcome for teachers is they may change the way they teach.
Learning Objectives. Please share 3 key objectives:
1) Define and explore current research on executive functioning and how this information benefits young children's cognitive capacity to learn.
2) Using Sara Smilansky's 4 types of play, teachers will define and role play how these types of play not only support cognitive growth but will give teachers an observational perspective how and what children are learning.
3) Reviewing and defining protective factors for strengthening resiliency, teachers will gain an understanding how resilience can support continued cognitive growth and minimize the impact of stress.
